Meaning: used to refer to the fact that something has been done or repeated so often that it has become annoying or tiresome.
Usage ) : Thanks to a deft disinformation campaign by the Chinese Government, some less-than-careful and even loose remarks by Ministers and officials on both sides and a media that has discussed war scenarios ad nauseam for the past few weeks, the world is getting increasingly panicky about the danger of war.

  • Musa paramjitiana

    New Species of Wild Banana found in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

  • Tyrannomyrmex alii

    New species of ant found in Western Ghats. Named after eminent myrmecologist (one who studies ant - Myrmecology is a branch of entomology focusing on the scientific study of ants) India's ant man Musthak Ali.

  • Gleadovia konyakianorum

    New species of flowering holosite (complete parasite) plant found in Nagaland. Named in honour of Konyak tribe of Nagas. The plant is void of chlorophyll.

  • Chennai - Creative City Network new Entrant

    Chennai recently was included in UNESCO's Creative City Network for contribution to music. In 2016, Jaipur (for music) and Varanasi (for folk art and crafts) were also added to the list. The count of Indian cities in the list is now 3. UNESCO's creativre city network was launched in 2004.


    SHE-BOX (sexual harassment e-box) is an online portal where Women can file sexual harassment at workplace complaint. Launched earlier (in July 2017) but now extended for women workers of organised sectors. Managed by Women and Child Development Ministry.

  • Disaster Maps

    Facebook in association with National Disaster Management Authority has launched Disaster maps which aims to help communities to recover and rebuild from natural disasters faster by sharing critical pieces of data sets with humanitarian agency in a timely manner.

  • National Testing Agency

    Union Ministry recently approved creation of National Testing Agency (NTA) as a Society registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860, and as an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for higher educational institutions. Features:

    - The NTA would initially conduct those entrance examinations which are currently being conducted by the CBSE.
    - Other examinations will be taken up gradually after NTA is fully geared up.
    - The entrance examinations will be conducted in online mode at least twice a year, thereby giving adequate opportunity to candidates to bring out their best.
    - In order to serve the requirements of the rural students, it would locate the centres at sub-district/district level and as far as possible would undertake hands-on training to the students.


    Establishment of NTA will benefit about 40 lakh students appearing in various entrance examinations. It will relieve CBSE, AICTE and other agencies from responsibility of conducting these entrance examinations, and also bring in high reliability, standardized difficulty level for assessing the aptitude, intelligence and problem solving abilities of the students.

  • Oral Treatment - Hepatitis C

    Haryana became the first Indian State to use Oral Medicine for the Treatment of Hepatitis C in Government Hospitals.

  • Project Saksham

    A comprehensive plan for imparting training to all employees of Indian Railways is being prepared with a view to upgrade skill & knowledge. Will help boost productivity and efficiency of Indian Railways Employees.

  • National Power Portal

    The Union Ministry of Power launched National Power Portal (NPP), a Centralized Platform for Collation and Dissemination of Indian power sector information. Central Electricity Authority (CEA) is nodal agency for implementation and operational control of NPP.

  • Bio-Toilets

    Union Ministry of Railways has announced that all the trains will have bio-toilets by December 2018. Bio-toilets use anaerobic bacteria to convert waste into water and small amount of gases (including methane).

  • First Fully Electric Cargo Ship

    It is the first ship in the world to use lithium ion battery, manufactured in China by the Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Ltd.Will be used for inland transportation. The ship has zero carbon/pollution emission.


    SAMPRITI is the joint exercise between India and Bangladesh. aimed to strengthen and broaden the aspects of interoperability and cooperation between the Indian and Bangladesh Armies. Recently its 7th edition was held.

  • National Anti-Profiteering Authority

    An apex body with an overarching mandate under Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime so as to ensure the benefit of tax reaches consumers. The NAA is tasked with ensuring full benefits of reduction in tax on supply of goods or services flow to consumers. It is responsible for applying anti-profiteering measures in event of reduction GST rate on supply of goods or services or if benefit of input tax credit is not passed on to recipients by way of commensurate reduction in prices.

  • Manushi Chillar

    Manushi Chillar of India won the Miss World Pageant 2017. The last Indian to win the title was Priyanka Chopra in 2000. First runner up was Stephanie Hill (England). First Indian to win the Miss World Title was Reita Faria (1966). Indian Winners till date are : Reita Faria, Aishwarya Rai, Diana Haydon, Yukta Mookhi, Priyanka Chopra and Manushi Chillar.

  • Talanoa Dialogue

    ‘Talanoa Dialogue’, a year-long process to assess countries’ progress on climate actions, to engage in an inclusive, participatory and transparent dialogue to resolve differences without putting any blame on any one. ‎As per COP23 decision, it has been structured around three questions to arrive at answers with consensus - ‎Where are we? ‎Where do we want to go? ‎How do we get there?

  • Samba Masuri

    Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in association with Indian Institute of Rice Research (Hyderabad) has developed Improved Samba Masuri variety of rice with low Glycemic Index (low GI results in slow release of glucose into the bloodstream reducing the ill-effects of diabetes).

  • IMBAX 2017

    First Joint India-Myanmar Military Exercise. Held in Meghalaya with the aim of building and promoting closer relations with armies of the neighbouring countries. It also aims to train officers of Myanmar Army in various United Nations Peacekeeping roles and tasks.
